Myanmar became the first team to book a place in the semi-finals of the Merdeka Cup after defeating competition hosts Malaysia 2-1.
The defending champions also defeated Lesotho 1-0 earlier in the week and now have six points from the opening two Group A games.
Aung Myo Thant gave Myanmar the lead three minutes before the break and five minutes after, Yan Paing made it two. Adha Abdul Razak reduced the arrears with 20 minutes remaining but Myanmar took the three points.
In the day’s other game Lesotho defeated Laos 3-1 to move level on points with Malaysia with one game remaining –the two meet on matchday three.
Laos were three goals down before the half hour and ended the game with nine men as Somsanouk Lovanxay and Kovanh Namthavixay were sent off.
WILL THIS MALAYSIAN TEAM WILL HAVE THE SAME FATE AS EARLIER MALAYSIA NATIONAL TEAMS IN EARLIER TOURNAMENTS ?
